What a weekend it has been! Our cadets had a busy but thoroughly enjoyable time in Belgium, thanks to the warm hospitality of the people of Comines-Warneton.

After a memorable Friday night at the The Menin Gate, Ypres, we kicked off Saturday morning with a visit Musée de la Rubanerie. Here, our cadets delved into the rich history of the local industry, learning about its evolution over the years. They were fascinated by the engineering of various machines and even discovered early forms of coding used long before computers were imagined.

Next, we explored a small German bunkhouse built during the First World War. At one point, this area was less than 3 miles from the front line and had endured heavy shelling ahead of the Battle of Messines.

Our journey continued to the Plugstreet 14-18 Experience, where our hosts gave us a warm reception. The museum provided our cadets with deep insights into the events of WWI in the region. We also paid our respects at a memorial dedicated to the many ANZAC troops who fought and died here.

In the afternoon, we had the opportunity to explore the beautiful town of Ypres. The day was capped off with a fantastic concert by the amazing , Harmonie royale les vrais amis de Ploegsteert perfect end to a wonderful day.

Thank you to everyone who made this trip unforgettable for our cadets!
