Milton Keynes Sea Cadets commemorated World War I veteran Albert French in two locations over the weekend of 14th-16th June.
A small contingent of cadets from T.S Whaddon departed early Friday morning, accompanying the Mayor of Wolverton & Greenleys, members of the Town Council and local associations to Ploegsteert, Belgium. This is part of annual town twinning activities, which this year took place in Ploegsteert.
Meanwhile the a contingent of Cadets back in Milton Keynes were getting ready to parade at the Milton Keynes Rose on Saturday 15th.
The overseas contigent landed late Friday afternoon, with a rapid change into uniform to meet with locals and the SAS Association to attend the Last Post ceremony.
Attending the Last Post Ceremony at the Menin Gate was a profoundly moving experience. This iconic memorial in Ypres stands as a solemn tribute to the soldiers who fought and fell during World War I, reminding us of the immense sacrifices made for our freedom. Parading alongside the SAS Association made this moment even more special.
A special mention to Cdt Cpl Zack B, Cdt Cpl Jess B, and LC Frankie F, who formed the wreath-bearing party and did a brilliant job. Many people commented on just how well they did.
